Back Forty — Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 29, 2026
Last updated: June 29, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Back Forty (“the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects your information. Back Forty is a farm equipment service-management application for farm owners and their teams. The App is provided by AgilErck (“the Developer”).
If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at erickd1190@gmail.com.
1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to everyone who uses the Back Forty mobile and web app. The App is intended for business use by farm operators and their team members. It is not directed to children (see Section 9).
2. Information we collect
We only collect information needed to operate the App. We do not sell your data, show advertising, or track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
a. Account information
- Name and email address, which you provide when you register or are invited to a farm.
- Used to create and manage your account and identify you to your farm team.
b. Location information (precise)
- Precise GPS location, used only when you actively map a field, set your farm’s location, or place equipment on the map.
- Location is collected only while you are using the App (foreground). We do not track your location in the background.
c. Photos and content you create
- Photos you attach to equipment, inspections, or crops.
- Text content you enter, such as inspection notes, service descriptions, equipment details, field information, and time-entry notes.
d. Identifiers
- A user account identifier (a unique ID for your account). We do not collect a device identifier or advertising identifier.
e. Usage data (analytics)
- Product-interaction events — for example, which screens you open and which actions you take, along with timing, success/failure, the app version, and platform (iOS/Android).
- This data is used to understand how the App is used and to improve reliability. It does not include the content you enter or your personal messages.
f. Diagnostics (crash reports)
- Crash and error reports, which help us find and fix bugs. These reports include technical information such as the type of error, device model, operating-system version, and app version.
- Crash reports are configured not to include your name, email, or account ID, and we run an automated process that removes emails, identifiers, and similar values before reports are sent.
3. How we use your information
We use the information above to:
- Provide the App’s core features (accounts, equipment, maintenance, inspections, reminders, storage, fields, crops, labor, and reports).
- Analyze usage to improve performance and reliability.
- Diagnose crashes and errors so we can fix them.
- Keep the App and your data secure.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not use it to track you across other companies’ products.
4. How your information is stored and shared
- Your account, content, location, photos, and usage data are stored in our backend, which is hosted on Supabase (a cloud database and storage provider acting as our data processor). Access is restricted so that your data is isolated to your farm.
- Crash reports are sent to Sentry, a third-party error-monitoring service, solely to diagnose and fix problems. As described above, these reports are configured not to be linked to your identity.
- Speech-to-text: if you use voice dictation, your device’s operating system (e.g., Apple’s speech recognition) may process the audio to produce text. We do not store or transmit the audio ourselves — only the resulting text you choose to save becomes part of your content.
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the Developer.
5. Data retention
- Account, content, location, and photos are retained for as long as your account and farm are active, and are deleted as described in Section 6.
- Usage (analytics) data is retained for 30 days and then deleted.
- Crash reports are retained according to our error-monitoring provider’s standard retention period.
6. Your rights and choices
- Delete your account and data. You can permanently delete your account from within the App at any time (Profile → Delete account & data). Deleting your account removes your personal information. If you own a farm, the App will guide you through transferring ownership or scheduling the farm’s deletion; a short grace period applies during which the deletion can be cancelled before it becomes permanent.
- Access and correct your information. You can view and edit your profile and content within the App. You may also contact us to request access to or correction of your personal information.
- Permissions. You control device permissions (camera, photos, location, microphone for voice input, and Face ID for the optional app lock) in your device settings. Denying a permission only disables the related feature.
To exercise any right or ask a question, email erickd1190@gmail.com.
7. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS) between the App and our backend.
- Secure storage of authentication tokens on your device.
- Row-level security that isolates each farm’s data.
- Optional two-factor authentication and an optional biometric app lock.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard practices.
8. International users
Your information may be processed and stored on servers located in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate. By using the App, you consent to this processing.
9. Children’s privacy
The App is intended for business use and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Third-party services
The App relies on the following third-party services, which process data on our behalf or as part of their platform:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage (our backend).
- Sentry — crash and error reporting.
- Apple / Google — app distribution and, for voice dictation, operating-system speech recognition.
Each provider handles data under its own privacy terms.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
